Paper Furniture

I just watched an episode of All About Paper, an infotainment show which re-ran on Channel News Asia. Surprisingly, even a 2008 show can be refreshing! It showcased on how paper can be a material used for functional home furnishing. The episode featured three products made from paper. They are Honey Comb Lamp (pictured), FlexibleLove and Recycled Paper Table.

The Honey Comb Lamp is made from denguri paper. It is a type of paper used in Japan. Out of the all three products, it is the cheapest at 41 USD (white) and 60 USD (red). The way the paper lamp opens up reminds me of the lanterns we carry during the Lantern Festivals. I commented to my mom about having one for any events in the house. When not in use, it can be packed away with minimum space taken up. It is available at designboom shop. I probably be getting one. The only consideration that I have is where to put the lamp in my house. It is cluttered as it is without having anymore white elephants. Endoh asked an obvious question on plurk: Will it burn? Well, I say, have some faith in the designer.

The FlexibleLove is a chair made from recycled honey-combed paper. It can sit up to sixteen people at any time. It can be a good conversation ice-breaker, but at a cost of 500 USD. The Recycled Paper Table can be customised to individual’s needs. However, it comes at a hefty 3398 USD.

Woopra Chat

Recently, I have used Woopra as my forth statistic tool for this blog. Yes I am that manic about stats.

Anyway, Woopra is one kick-ass program. It uses the usual javascript codings and Java to deliver real-time statistics straight on the desktop. I get a kick from looking at the pinging dots on the world map, which signify people going through page after page on the site.

Not only that, there is a live chatting function! I can chat with visitors in real time! What does this mean? The visitors are in for a surprise! So, if you see a pop up, don’t be hasty to close it! That is me! :-D

Sinful weekend

Despite of going to East Coast Park for another 2-hour long non-stop cycling, I think I have put on weight instead of losing them again.

Saturday – Cousin’s 21st birthday. Burp! Cycling from the Kite Runners to halfway point of the Changi Coast Park Connector and back (app. 20KM again).

Sunday – My dad bought home some 来历不明 roast duck. Super yummy and sinful. Burp! No swimming today, because I decided to take a long nap. Thanks to fiefie and Jean for mentioning. :-?

NAS over the Net

I managed to set up my home’s NAS over the Internet. YES! OK, anyway, I have to redo it because I took a shortcut.

Things to do:

  1. Install Optware
  2. Install Nano
  3. Install a web server
  4. Install Access Book
  5. Install OpenVPN (better not. LOL. There is not a need for this yet)
  6. Install mySQL
  7. Install Print Server
  8. Install Media Server

I got to thank @Phazey for helping me out in the identification of the correct IP address to use.

Faux Pas

The following is a conversation with someone today:

Her: Hi, are you still looking for job?

Me: Erm, I just started work.

Her: OK. I have one here. Do you have friends who are finding job? I send you an email?

Me: OK. Erm… Wait… Which email?

The trouble with me is that I have too many email accounts. Anyway, anyone who are interested can contact me for more information. I am doing her a favour, by the way.
